Licence Renewal

Any current licence holder whose cannabis licence is approaching its expiration date must apply for renewal using Form 1A and Form 1B, in accordance with Regulation 8(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs (Cannabis Licensing) (Interim) Regulations, 2016.

Required Forms for Renewal

  • Application for Licence
  • Supplemental Information for Licence Application
  • Declaration of Ownership
    • Required only if:
      • The applicant is an individual, or
      • There are changes to the company structure

Important Reminders:

  • Always submit complete applications – incomplete forms or missing documents will delay or void your application.
  • Submit early to allow time for Desk Review, Due Diligence, and Verification.

Below are the required documents based on the type of applicant and situation. Only updated documents are required where previous submissions have expired.

For Companies (Jamaican Residents)

  • Official Police Certificate for each Director/Shareholder (10%+)
  • Receipt of Police Record application
  • Certified ID (Government-issued)
  • Certified Passport bio-page (if due diligence expired)

For Companies (Foreign Nationals)

  • Police Certificate from country of residence
  • Receipt of Police Record application
  • Notarized Government ID
  • Certified Passport bio-page

For Cooperatives/Friendly Societies

  • Official Police Certificate for each Board Director
  • Receipt of Police Record application
  • Certified ID and Passport bio-page for Directors

For Individual Cultivators

  • Official Police Certificate
  • Receipt of Police Record application
  • Two certified Government-issued IDs
  • Certified Passport bio-page
  • Current Tax Compliance Certificate

Below are the required documents for Businesses

  • Certified Annual Return
  • Current Tax Compliance Notification Letter
  • Status Letter (for Cooperatives/Friendly Societies)
  • If Annual Return is not yet filed:
  • Certified Status Letter from Companies Office of Jamaica

Below are the required documents for Employees

For Re-employed Workers

  • Police Certificate (or receipt as proof of application)
  • Certified ID (if expired)
  • Existing employees are conditionally approved pending Police Record submission within 3 months.

For New Employees

  • Police Certificate from country of residence
  • Certified Government-issued ID
  • Two certified passport-sized photos
  • Work Permit Card or Exemption Letter (for foreign citizens)
  • Application for Occupational (Group) Licence

Below are the required documents for Properties

If Existing Lease is Still Valid:

  • Proof of property tax payment

If Lease Has Expired or Property Changed:

  • Form 3 – Property Owner Consent Form
  • Proof of up-to-date property tax payment
  • Certified Lease/Rental Agreement
  • Certified ID of the property owner (if company-owned)

Due diligence checks are required every three (3) years for:

  • Individuals
  • Directors and Shareholders (10%+ ownership)
  • Business proprietors
  • Co-operative members
